KONKAN CULTURE

Culture of a place is a reflection of its society. The culture of Konkan is fascinating and captivating. It tells us about the people of the place, their lifestyle and their beliefs. The word Konkan, has turned into Konkani which comes from the word 'Konka' which means the people of konkan] The Konkani people are a linguistic community found mainly in the Konkan Coast of south western India whose mother tongue is the Konkani language

KONKANI CUISINE


The Konkani cuisine is the standard cuisine of the Konkan on in Maharashtra and Goa.

Although Konkani cuisine is predominantly non-vegetarian there are many vegetarian dishes too. It has its own way of cooking food. Konkani cuisine uses coconut liberally in various forms such as grated, dry grated, fried, coconut paste. The Konkani cuisine is very similar to Goan or coastal South Indian cuisine.

 BEST PLACES TO VISIT

Sindhudurg Fort also known as the Sindhudurg killa is a fort that occupies a small island in the Arabian sea and is one of the best place in Konkan.
Tarkarli Beach has gained a lot of tourist attraction because of its pristine water and amazing water sports such as scuba diving.
Ganpatipule is a small village located in Ratnagiri in Konkan which is famous for its beautiful beach and for the Lord Ganesh temple which attracts more tourists towards it.
