TEMPLES TO VISIT IN KONKAN

KUNKESHWAR TEMPLE

Kunkeshwar is a village in Konkan which is situated on the banks of Arabian Sea. The village consists of a famous Lord Shiva temple. The temple is also known as the 'Konkan Kashi'. It consists of beautiful long beach. The temple is on the right side of the beach which offers amazing sea view.


A large number tourist visit to Kunkshwar at the time of Mahashivratri. The celebration of Mahashivratri is at its best. The temple is decorated beautiful lightings and there are many food and games stalls for the visitors.

ANGANEWADI

Anganewadi  is a small hamlet of Masure village which is situated in Sindhdurg district of Malvan. The village has a famous Bharadi devi temple. The Bharadi devi is very famous deity for her wish-fulfilling(Navas) power. It is said that the goddess fulfils all the wishes of her devotees. Anganewadi  is called as the 'Pandharpur of Konkan'. Many political leaders as well as celebrities visit Anganewadi. Every year in February there is a fair(Jatra) in Anganewadi where around 2 lakh people visit this temple in the fair.

HARIHARESHWAR

A small village on the Konkan belt Harihareshwar is mainly popular for its Harihareshwar temple. This temple was built in dedication to the Hindu Lord Shiva. Harihareshwar is renowned tourist spot in Konkan for its temple and two beaches. Harihareshwar temple has two adjacent temples. The Kalbhairav temple is visited first before entering the main Harihareshwar temple which has a ancient Shiva Linga. Harihareshwar is said as Devbhumi’ or ‘Temple Town’. It is an evergreen place and one can visit there at any season. One can spend three or four days of holidays easily.

KONKAN CULTURE

Culture of a place is a reflection of its society. The culture of Konkan is fascinating and captivating. It tells us about the people of the place, their lifestyle and their beliefs. Observing the culture of Konkan gives you a fair idea about the traditions and practices that are still followed by the locals. 



The word Konkan, has turned into Konkani which comes from the word 'Konka' which means the people of konkan] The Konkani people are a linguistic community found mainly in the Konkan Coast of south western India whose mother tongue is the Konkani language

KONKANI CUISINE


The Konkani cuisine is the standard cuisine of the Konkan on in Maharashtra and Goa.

Although Konkani cuisine is predominantly non-vegetarian there are many vegetarian dishes too. It has its own way of cooking food. Konkani cuisine uses coconut liberally in various forms such as grated, dry grated, fried, coconut paste. The Konkani cuisine is very similar to Goan or coastal South Indian cuisine.

 BEST PLACES TO VISIT

Sindhudurg Fort also known as the Sindhudurg killa is a fort that occupies a small island in the Arabian sea and is one of the best place in Konkan.
Tarkarli Beach has gained a lot of tourist attraction because of its pristine water and amazing water sports such as scuba diving.
Ganpatipule is a small village located in Ratnagiri in Konkan which is famous for its beautiful beach and for the Lord Ganesh temple which attracts more tourists towards it.
